yup, after 5 months... i still living in singapore.. (arghhh... MIZ jakartaaaaaaaa)

this a few characteristic to identify singlish (actually, it's very EASY) hehe

iya LO"---influence by chinese language, i guess

iya MEH"---influence by malay language

"tahan---influence by malay language, it's suppose to be... i cant "stand....

"u wanna eat WHAT?"--- different/wrong structure

HUALAWEE"---i dont have idea, where is come from -_-", but have similar meaning with "haiyoo", "ya ampun", "wadooh"

ALTHOUGH, have all these particulars, but they still understand each other easily... that's amazing... maybe


so, if u found something different... particulars language in many places, c'mon, we must talk about it!!!

maybe their different joke... or their tones of voice if they called "things"

Singlish is English that already adapted and changed in Singapore or Malaysia. They speak different way of English. Then they call it Singlish (Singaporean English). They speak english, but different. But also, they speak very fluent English. Like we are Indonesians, we don't speak the proper Bahasa, yet we are good in speaking the proper one.

As the pretty ghost said, they add more accents on the language.

Btw, Walawe means OMG for Malaysians.

Hahaha..exactly..Singlish is not so clear for ppl who don't understand english very well, because it doesn't follow the proper english..
Singlish is more like raw english translation from bahasa...

It's ok for ppl who can't speak English very well.. The more u practise, the more u get fluent...^^

i only know few phrases like: hai yaaaaaa, lhaaaa (in the end of some sentences)

i did translate boldly from indo to english, it became like that XD

i like UK english...

but singlish is UK english.... tat's why, when u talk to them" (refer to singaporean) wit USA vocab... they dont understand.

coz singlish is adapted from UK
but it has many different, right? hahaha

but the way they pronounce UK english is different tho' with American english... American english is so much clearer than UK english..but, Singlish use UK english words, like color, they use colour. or the other way..(i forget) etc...

British English is more elegant, i can say, but u can't hear them clearly tho'..
So, i prefer American English..
